Free Sports Massage

Mark Bartley is studying level 4 sports massage with Sports Therapy UK having studied level 3 at the start of this year. He would like to offer members the chance to have free sports massages with absolutely no will provide him with invaluable experience. He is looking for all abilities and all ages (a parent/guardian would need to be present in the case of minors). Whether or not you have injuries or niggles and not necessarily cycling issues eg. if you have tense shoulders from sitting at a desk all day he could help with that. The only thing he won't treat is an injury that is already being dealt with by another therapist. He is fully insured and has 9 months of varied experience including working at the London Marathon this year. He will not be attempting to provide any therapy that he hasn't already been trained to carry out. He is simply looking for a wider variety of people to further hone his skills. He can massage at someone's home or they can go to him in Hardwick on evenings and weekends.  An initial session is likely to last around 60-90mins as he needs to fulfil certain requirements such as medical history recording and full postural assessment. Additional sessions would be around 45-60mins. Some people worry about sports massage being painful...although some techniques can be uncomfortable the aim is to always make the massage tolerable. He'd work within your pain tolerance levels - his intention is certainly not to put anyone in pain!
About Mark: -
Mark has been a Senior Medical Photographer at Addenbrookes for 14 years, dealing with patients daily on a one-to-one basis. Mark has been CRB (now DBS) checked via this position. He is keen on most sports having played in local football leagues; ran (and won his age group) in many local road 10k races over the years and cycled for 30 years, riding the Coast to Coast solo in one day in 2011.  This year he attempted to get a bit more competitive, racing a couple of our Club 10 mile TT's. He has also acted as photographer for a number of local triathlons, duathlons and running races.
He is now looking for a new challenge and his interest in sport coupled with existing anatomy and healthcare knowledge has led to studying sports massage therapy. Once qualified, in around 9 months time, he plans to carry on with the day job and set up a small family business providing sports massage therapy. He also hopes to improve his 10 mile TT time but studies may get in the way!
Again, this is absolutely free and the offer will continue into next summer. If you are interested he can be contacted either by calling/texting 07957 458027 or by email
