Puncture Season

Photo: - Will Lockhart
One of today's Intermediate rides stopped on four occasions for punctures. This was doubtless due to flints being washed onto the roads following yesterday's heavy rain.

Fortunately it was a pleasant December afternoon and everyone was as relaxed as could reasonably be expected.

As a reminder, club-runners should ensure they fit winter tyres that have additional puncture protection. A popular choice on today's ride was Schwalbe Durano Plus. In addition, as a bare minimum of maintenance following a ride, we suggest cleaning of the transmission and close inspection of the tyres under a bright light which will highlight embedded foreign objects.
