Bank Holiday Ride to London

Rob Hale is organising a club ride to London this Sunday 29th May. Leaving Addenbrookes at 8 o’clock, the route will be via Clavering, the Hadhams and Epping Forest with a break for coffee at about 40-45 miles. The distance there will be 70 miles, and the pace ‘intermediate’ (16/17mph).

Before lunch there will be a leisurely ride around the sights with no fixed itinerary but probably taking in the new ‘superhighway’ on the Embankment; riding up the Mall and through Hyde Park. After lunch, there will be the choice of more sightseeing and catching the train home, or riding back.

Due to the difficulties of keeping a large group together in the city, the ideal number will be no more than 10. If there are many more then there will be a split into groups on arrival. To gauge the likely numbers, if you’re interested then send a mail to Rob Hale. Let him know whether you’d be willing to lead a group whilst in London. This need not be too onerous a task, requiring only a rough familiarity with Central London geography, patience and a mobile phone.

Should the forecast be inclement the ride will be postponed.

Come and Try It Event at Newton - Thursday 12 May

We had an excellent turnout for our "Come and Try It" event at Newton yesterday evening. Go to the "TT Results" tab above to see who did what.

Should newcomers wish to participate in future Club events, our Membership page on the drop-down Menu gives info. on how to join our Club.

To continue running successful and safe events for this season we do need Club members to help, as we are currently relying on a handful who are "going the extra mile". Details are on the Helpers tab of the TT Results spreadsheet. If you can help contact our Time Trial Secretary.

Club Time Trial Thursday 12 May

Start and Congregation
Our next club time trial on the Newton circuit is a Come and Try It event.

Why not give it a go?

Course here: -

Unlike our normal club events, you do not have to be a member of a cycling club to enter. No preference is given to CCC members - it is a case of "first come first served".

There is no charge to ride this event. You must be over 12 years old and if under age 18 we require Parental Consent. No special equipment or clothing is necessary but we do recommend you wear an approved helmet.

First rider starts at 19:01. Riders can complete either one or two laps (6 or 12 miles approx). You do not have to declare in advance the number of circuits. Should you decide after one circuit enough is enough, be careful not to impede riders who are on their second lap.
